From Georgia to Greensboro: Atlanta Aggies Send Off the Class of 2030

On Saturday, June 13, nearly 250 alumni, students, parents, family members, and supporters gathered for the Atlanta Alumni Chapter of North Carolina A&T State University’s Annual Membership Celebration and Student Send Off.

Held for the first time at the Medlock Corporate Pavilion in Norcross, GA, the event was moved to a larger venue to accommodate the chapter's largest send-off to date. 

This fall, approximately 90 students from Georgia will begin their journey in Greensboro, NC at North Carolina A&T State University, the nation's largest HBCU, continuing a proud tradition of Georgia students choosing Aggieland as their home away from home.

The afternoon was emceed by J. White, Parliamentarian and Bylaws Committee Chair, who brought energy, humor, and enthusiasm to the program as he welcomed attendees and guided the day's activities.

The event began with chapter announcements and updates, followed by a celebration of student achievement through the presentation of eight scholarships to incoming and current Aggies. Scholarship awards ranging from $500 to $1,000 were presented to deserving students, helping support their educational goals and future success.

Throughout the day, the pavilion was filled with the unmistakable spirit of Aggie Pride. We prayed, laughed, danced, and celebrated together as alumni reconnected with classmates, welcomed new families into the Aggie community, and encouraged the next generation of leaders preparing to leave their mark on North Carolina A&T and beyond.

Special thanks to BF's House of Soundz and DJ RKatek for providing the soundtrack for the afternoon and keeping the energy high throughout the celebration. Attendees enjoyed a delicious cookout-style meal catered by Smoke in the Air BBQ & Good Eatz. 

Students preparing to head to Greensboro this fall also received complimentary gift boxes filled with tech tools to help them stay connected and succeed throughout their college journey. The gift boxes were thoughtfully crafted by King Custom Creations, an Aggie-owned business specializing in gifts and apparel for special occasions.

One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity for students and parents to participate in separate breakout sessions. Incoming students joined alumni for a real-talk Q&A where they could ask questions and gain insight about academics, campus life, leadership opportunities, and what it means to be an Aggie. At the same time, parents participated in a dedicated session focused on supporting their students through the transition to college and learning what to expect during the years ahead.

The celebration concluded with one of the chapter's most cherished traditions: the Rites of Passage ceremony. Alumni, family members, and supporters formed a tunnel as incoming students walked through while reciting positive affirmations. It was a powerful reminder that no student begins their Aggie journey alone. Each student heads to Greensboro backed by a community that is deeply invested in their success.

The Atlanta Alumni Chapter extends its congratulations to all scholarship recipients and students preparing to attend North Carolina A&T this fall. We are proud of you, excited for your future, and honored to be part of your journey.
